This page contains information about some of the most common issues regarding depaneling, as well as Tooling options which are available for a safer PCB Singulation process. Also listed are Users guides for all FKN Depaneling products.
Score-line Specifications.
According to IPC specifications, the Industry standard score-line is recommended to be between 30 degrees and 45 degrees. (IPC document IPC-221C and IPC-222)
For singulating multiple lines in one pass it is better to keep the score-line angle as wide as possible.
Blade Sharpness for V-Score Depanelizers.
The sharpness of a blade is a combination of the angle of the grind and the hardness of the material. For a razor, the grind angle of the edge is 15 Degrees and for an ax it is 45 degrees.
Specifications for the edge sharpness of standard circular and linear blades on PCB
depanelizers call for a .004” to .006” flat or rounded edge which is then honed to a 30 degree sharp edge. Score-line specifications for printed circuit boards specify an angle of 30 to 45 degrees. (Bigger is better)
We can re-sharpen your blades for you.
